We are beginning our first giveaway today, courtesy of Royal Canin. Our giveaway contest, worth $80, will run through April 21. The lucky winner gets: a 2.5 pound bag of Royal Canin X-SMALL dog food, Earth Bath natural grooming wipes, Zwipes Microfiber Small Pet Towels (pack of 5), Tropiclean oral care kit, Fresh ‘n Clean oatmeal and baking soda shampoo, Li’l Pals grooming brush and nail trimmer, and grooming lead.
How to enter
Enter the contest with the rafflecopter widget. You can either log in through your Facebook account or enter your email address to enter. Then, click on the down arrow to the right of “+1 DO IT.” It should ask you to tell us why your dog deserves to be pampered (this isn’t mandatory, but we would love to know). To leave a comment, scroll to the bottom of the blog, under my picture, and enter your comment where it says “Add New Comment.”

Also, this is very important. We know the food that comes with this gift is for x-small dogs, but if you have any type of small dog, even if he or she is more than eight pounds (like shih tzus), please enter anyway! Royal Canin has more than 40 years of experience in the animal health and nutrition industry. It collaborates with nutritionists, breeders, and veterinarians from around the world to come up with formulas. Their dog formulas include MINI (9 – 22 lbs), MEDIUM (23 – 55 lbs), MACXI (56 – 99 lbs), and GIANT (100 and up).
They recently set out to come up with the perfect formula for dogs 8 lbs. and under, resulting in the X-SMALL nutrition line. Not all x-small dogs have the same needs, so the X-SMALL line includes PUPPY, ADULT, MATURE (+8), and AGING (+12).
Dr. Brent Mayabb, veterinarian and manager of education and development at Royal Canin, explains that the new formulas take into account the x-small dogs’ unique physiology, specific energy needs, and extra-small jaw size, to provide them with “optimal nutrition.” The formulas also “contain premium nutrition to support heart health, highly digestible proteins and fibers to help regulate digestion and prevent constipation, and are enriched with EPA and DHA to help maintain a beautiful skin and coat.” The kibble is also designed to promote dental health, by reducing tartar build-up as the dog chews.
To celebrate the launch of its X-SMALL line, Royal Canin kicked off The Royal Canin Treatment sweepstakes in late February. One lucky pet parent will get free dog food and grooming for life, along with an accessory shopping spree to pamper their x-small dog. The sweepstakes runs through June 1, 2012. Owners can enter for a chance to win at the Royal Canin website.
In addition to the grand prize, owners also can participate in The Royal Canin Treatment Instant Win Game for a chance to win one of more than 500 prizes for their tiny companion. Instant Win prizes range from gift cards and toys, to travel gear, grooming items and more.

Hi! I’ve just entered the competition. I would love to win the Doggy Spa gift set as I have FOUR x-small doggies here, so everything in the set would come in very handy. Three of the dogs are mine: Pogo the toy poodle, Casper the Bichon and Jimmy the Maltichon. I also have Munchy the elderly Shih Tzu who is staying with us for a while. I groom all the dogs myself! As you can imagine, it keeps me very busy and I would appreciate all the goodies that come in the gift set. They would make life a bit easier! 🙂
Four x-small doggies! I know exactly how that feels!! Good for you! You have such a wonderful variety. We groom the dogs ourselves too, and it is quite the chore! But, it would be way too expensive to take them all to the groomer! Good luck with the raffle!

My computer is not letting me post a new comment, but I wanted to write that Tater the shih tzu deserves a pamper package beacuse he has had a very rough start to life. Tater was saved from a high kill shelter, underweight and matted so badly he needed to be completely shaved. He had fleas, an intestinal parasite, and other digestive problems. Despite the obvious neglect he suffered, he is a sweet, gentle boy and just wants to give kisses and receive belly rubs. Now that we have him, he is cherished and loved. He definitely deserves all the pampering in the world.
Tater should have never had to go through that! Flower, Dottie, and Candy came from a puppy mill, and although they had a rough life, it sounds like Tater had things much worth. It is so wonderful for you to adopt him and give him a better life. He does deserve all the pampering in the world and we are so happy that you shared your story! Good luck with the raffle!

(My computer did not let me post a comment as well on the raffle site) I think all the dogs really deserve this package as well. I’ve had Yeti from when he was a puppy and his allergies have been a constant struggle for us to identify. He’s been to the vet numerous times and tried different foods as well. Despite all of that he is the happiest pup he can be. Yeti loves his belly rubs and trips to the park. Nothing will stand in his way in living his full happy doggy life. He would so appreciate winning this package and he knows how much it would help his mommy and daddy out as well 🙂

Mister is one spoiled pup, but he doesn’t often get pampered. We’d love to try and groom him at home!

We have a shih tzu and found your website via twitter. We have been reading your blog for quite some time now and it is amazing to see how far your pups have come!! I always love spoiling by little guy, Ted, and I think the oatmeal and baking soda shampoo would be especially nice because he has very sensitive skin!! Thanks 🙂

I have 3 wonderful Shih Tzu who are totally spoiled. First there is Gizmo who is 16.5 years young. Next is Oreo who is 11 years young and finally is Oliver Trice who is 11 weeks. The girls have been so patient with their new little brother and would love some extra special spoiling since a lot of my attention is devoted to “training” the new little fur ball.
